So, You want to learn some SEO ? I have to tell you, there is a long way to do it but it is possible. Lets assume that you have new, shining website. Is she good enough to fight in SEO battle ? I am not talking here about how it looks in a browser window but about how is it coded behind the scene. How its HTML code is constructed and what type of schema did you use to build that beautiful website.
There is couple things that are very important for SEO positioning and robots are interested with the most. You should pay attention to those elements to get good organic search score. When building your website, you should follow couple very important rules .
Proper domain name
It is quite important element but not essential. What i mean by saying proper domain name ? I am talking about getting a domain name for your website that is strictly connected with your niche. You should look for domain that is targeting your keyword. For example , lets say you have a shoe store in north London. You should look for a meaningful domain like shoe-store-london.co.uk or shoe-store-north-london.co.uk. Those two names are good but second one is a bit to long but at the same time its better than some not meaningful thing like happypuppys.com as it is not related to your niche.
Unique title tag for each page
That is very important element. You should never omit any title tag within your website and make them unique. You shouldn’t repeat the same page title on any other page. You should create page titles containing your keywords and place those keywords at the very begin of a title. Do not create long page titles as Google will trim all of them to about 66 characters. So, long page titles have no sense.
Headers
You should use your keywords in headers ( H1 – H6 ) . Pay intention to place most valuable keywords in H1 tag and at least couple or one H2, H3 tags.
Strong/ bold words
Try to use strong tag for your keywords withing page content. Strong/bold tag wasn’t created just to show a text in font’s bold version. His task is to mark selected text as more important, so crawlers think that content withing strong tag is quite important, so it is a good place for keywords.
Page content
Page content is very very important. You cant create website just with cool title, one H1 tag and one image and think it will reach top 5 in Google organic searches. You must create good content that is related with website topic and that content must be unique? What is it mean? You cant just copy and paste some random text to every page within your website and wait to be in Google high scores. You content must be related to your keywords and general topic of your website. You cant just write article about cats and birds to positioning a London shoe store. Google invested million of dollars to create clever algorithms that are checking your pages. They hire hundreds of smart guys with PhD or MA and you just cant be much more clever than that small army of Einsteins. At least in long term period.
Backlinks
Now lets talk about meat and potatoes of SEO. The mos valuable element and hardest to do. Creating a quality backlinks is a root of your success. Your task is to get as much QUALITY LINKS As possible.What is a quality link ? Quality backlinks are those, that coming from good, trusted domains and targeting your keywords . What is then good and trusted domain ? It is a website, that have good reputation , never had problems with Google or other search engine and the best if it would have content somehow related to yours. It is not good idea to pay for somebody who offers you a 1000 backlinks for 20 pounds or dollars. Those 1000 links have no value for you as they are low quality links, and 5 or sometimes one quality link will do better job that 1000 of those lownquality links. You shouldnt go and buy 1000 links. They are done automatically and usually as nofollow link in blog comments that Google hate and will do hosnjob to spot that cheating practice and can totally ban your website from organic results or send it to very bottom of results. Be fussy and pick only goodndomains and try to placenyour backlink therenor exchange your linksmwith other, relatedndomains.
